2012 Editor’s Choice for Best Teahouse in 5280 Magazine’s Top of the Town
The 5280 office drinks a lot of tea (one editor even has a secret stash of 21 varieties at her desk), which means we’re choosy when it comes to a cup of brew. Most teahouses tend to be a bit cliché, with Victorian-inspired lace draped over every surface or Japanese-only imported tea blends. That’s why we go back again and again to South Broadway’s Capital Tea. The sunny tearoom is thankfully doily-free—perhaps in an effort to be as appealing to men as it is to women—and the prepared-to-order cups or kettles are divine. For a pick-me-up, pair the English breakfast blend with the ginger cookie sandwich filled with lemon-spiked cream.
